JANE & HAPPY LITTLE YOGI

JaneHappy Little Yogi was founded in 2009 by Jane Oppegaard.

Our mission is to introduce children to yoga from an early age in a fun and playful way. Through the practice, children learn to connect with their breath, tune into their body, self-regulate and grow up understanding the essential mind-body connection that yoga offers.

Jane started to practice Kundalini Yoga in 1999, liking the balance of physical exercise to the clearing and calming the mind through meditation and sound. Having suffered with scoliosis for most of her life, the practice proved to have incredible effects on her posture and mobility. Jane decided to train and qualified in Kundalini Yoga in 2008, training at the Amrit Nam Sarovar School and then with Gurmukh Kaur in the USA. Her desire to teach yoga to children led her to qualify in Child Play Yoga with Gurudass Kaur in 2009 and The Radiant Child School in 2010.

Having gained many years experience in teaching children and finding creative ways to engage them in yoga and meditation activities, the Happy Little Yogi Flow Teacher Training Programme was launched in 2019..

Yoga classes for all ages

At a time when reaching out for happiness tends to be sought outside of us, Happy Little Yogi teaches children and young people to finding happiness within. Our aim is to create healthy, happy, flexible, calm, well-balanced children and young people through the practice of yoga.

Happy Little Yogi’s classes are designed for children and young people of all ages and ability, and adapted to each age groups as follows:

Happy Yogi Tots is designed for 2-4 year olds: we use animal characters and story-telling to teach little ones to breathe, explore coordination and balancing while weaving key concepts of yoga tradition through the sessions. Movement takes place along entertaining music.
Happy Little Yogis is for 4-11 year olds: as little yogis reach primary school, yoga is introduced in a playful way, through games, dance, movement, sound and relaxation. Following an energetic warmup, little yogis follow a themed routine, enabling them to continue strengthening their concentration, balance, flexibility and co-ordination. Different breathing techniques and key yogic principles are introduced to the practice, teaching little yogis to tune into their body and self-regulate as and when needed

Happy Yogi Teens is for young people aged 12-years and over: the practice is fine-tuned as yogis reach secondary school and enter their teenage years. Our aim here is to help them grow comfortable with their body, inviting self-expression and the exploration of emotions as we keep flowing with meditations, movements and breath.

Given the popularity of Happy Little Yogi, Jane is currently looking into franchising Happy Little Yogi’s model.

If you have entrepreneurial aspirations, a passion for teaching yoga and working with children, why not consider running  after-school clubs, daytime interventions in schools, family yoga and holiday clubs, in your local area?

Once trained in The Happy Little Yogi Flow, a franchisee will be able to roll the model out in their local area while  receiving the relevant resources, support and years of teaching experience.
